About Everstream Analytics
Everstream Analytics is a supply chain risk management and analytics company that provides organizations with real-time data and insights to help them manage and mitigate risks in their supply chains. They offer various solutions and services, including predictive analytics, supply chain visualization, risk assessment, and real-time monitoring. By leveraging advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data, Everstream Analytics helps businesses to improve their decision-making, reduce operational costs, and increase the resilience of their supply chains.
Everstream’s proven solution integrates with procurement, logistics, and business continuity platforms generating the complete information, sharper analysis, and accurate predictions required to turn the supply chain into a business asset.
Coordinated logistics solutions in a complex world
Increasing complexity of global supply chain connections challenge efforts by organizations to gain full network visibility and take control of operations. And especially when systems are disrupted, such as by extreme weather, humanitarian situations, or global health emergencies. This became an unavoidable reality during the global COVID-19 pandemic, when shifting policies, public safety mandates, and shutdowns wreaked havoc on supply chains around the world.
The nonprofit American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) saves lives and reduces suffering using coordinated logistics solutions to improve disaster relief efforts. Founded in 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, ALAN works to ensure the right materials are delivered in the right quantities, at the right time, so that help and hope arrive at disaster sites as soon as possible – and so that every donated dollar can go further. ALAN’s long-standing role in helping to coordinate response efforts informs its understanding that crises and disasters are often uncharted territory and are rarely simple to navigate, especially when it comes to the logistics of disaster response. Conditions change quickly and navigating the vast array of information can be difficult.
Supply chain intelligence meets spatial intelligence
To help its national network of supply chain companies navigate the pandemic and disaster-management landscape, ALAN partnered with Everstream Analytics to build an interactive, map-based Supply Chain Intelligence Center (SCIC), and made it available free of charge to anyone who needs it.
The SCIC serves as a single, unified source that collects and analyzes critical pieces of information. The interactive map enables businesses and disaster-response organizations to monitor the real-time status of roads, ports and airports in disaster-impacted areas, and to track the forecasted path of tropical storms and hurricanes. This extensive access to information about how supply chains are affected enables help to reach disaster survivors more quickly – and get communities on the road to recovery sooner.
Building a new project with a proven location tech partner – Mapbox
The SCIC was built with a 160k point dataset that was manually updated by a dedicated volunteer base. Post pandemic, the SCIC is maintained by ALAN staff. The volume of incoming data necessitated a platform that could ingest massive data quickly. With extensive technological capabilities and experience building with Mapbox, Everstream Analytics was able to support ALAN’s goal of providing a user-friendly tool to fortify existing supply chains during emergency response.
Everstream Analytics has been helping clients tackle the challenges of capturing and visualizing complex data in partnership with Mapbox for years. The reliability and flexibility of the Mapbox platform left no doubts for the team building the SCIC. Mapbox GL JS is powerful enough to seamlessly process high dataflows from various sources and guarantee stable processing even under high spikes of use. In addition, the flexible visualization options enable customers to seamlessly turn dense data streams into actionable insights.
Scalable supply chain visibility
Everstream Analytics and ALAN have found that the map-based format of the SCIC is the most user-friendly way to monitor impacts of emergencies on key components of the supply chain. Accurate data, updated in real time provides ALAN’s partners – as well as Everstream Analytics’ commercial customers more generally – with visibility needed to keep operations moving as efficiently as possible.
Hundreds of ALAN partners now routinely use the SCIC when disasters are imminent – a popularity that speaks to the confidence they have in its clear visualizations and smooth map rendering, especially when situations intensify. Data such as real-time projected path of hurricanes, tropical storms and other global weather events allow public and private sector entities time to fortify their operations ahead of inclement weather and severe disruptions. And underpinning the success of the dashboards is the efficient and scalable location technology platform from Mapbox.
