Having precise and relevant location data is a game-changer for developers who build digital maps and applications. We're thrilled to announce the private preview of Details API, a new API that empowers developers with rich, dynamic location information.
The Details API is a powerful addition to Mapbox's suite of search and data products. It is designed to provide developers with comprehensive access to enriched location data, including photos of places, visiting and delivery information, opening hours, and detailed place insights.
How do developers use the Details API?
The usage is straightforward: developers just need to provide a feature ID for an address, POI, or boundary, and they get back metadata for that feature. The returned metadata depends on the feature type (etc., POI, boundary) and metadata attribute set requested. Attribute sets are data bundles, like photos, visit information, and venue details, that developers can retrieve for their use case.
In addition, we provide developers with control over exactly what data they want, our solution ensures transparency in pricing based on the requested attributes. This means customers only pay for the specific details they need, eliminating any unexpected costs.
Benefits for businesses and developers
The Details API offers a powerful new way to enhance customer maps. It provides access to premium location details that go beyond what's currently available through our Maps and Search APIs, such as photos, reviews, phone numbers, opening hours, and more. In addition, Mapbox Boundary customers no longer need to use flat-file CSV files to look up boundaries, as they receive a new query interface with the Details API.
The Details API delivers location details programmatically, simplifying workflows and improving user experience. Overall, the Details API empowers developers with a powerful tool to create even more engaging and informative map experiences.
- Enhanced user experience: Integrate data like photos, reviews, phone numbers, opening hours, and more, directly into their maps, allowing users to discover nearby points of interest (POI), make informed decisions, and navigate with confidence.
- Flexible data options: Tailor customer solution by choosing from five data attribute sets (Basic, Photos, Visit, Venue, and Arrival) to meet the specific needs of their application.
- Cost-effective pricing: Pay for what you need by using attribute sets. Transparent billing with no hidden API costs.
- Streamlined integration: Effortlessly integrate with existing Mapbox services like Search Box API, Geocoding API, and Boundaries. Utilize standard Mapbox IDs for data retrieval, ensuring a smooth development workflow.
- Always-current data: Access the most up-to-date location data available. Our API leverages a comprehensive mix of public and private sources, expert reviews, and predictive models, and we continually enhance our data quality and coverage.
