Mapbox proudly exhibited at the Game Tools & Middleware Forum 2024 (GTMF2024), the premier business event for game developers in Japan. The event took place in Osaka on June 28th and in Tokyo on July 9th. Our presence included an engaging booth at both venues and participation in informative sessions, fostering valuable exchanges about the game business and development with developers and planners.

Mapbox's Booth Highlights

At our exhibition booth, we showcased innovative demo apps and map design tools under the theme "Location-based games that evolve with Mapbox maps." A key highlight was our "Playable Location" data, which ensures safe gameplay by identifying off-limits areas and impassable roads. This technology allows for the strategic placement of item acquisition spots and checkpoints, enhancing the gaming experience.

The Mapbox booth stood out among the myriad of game-specific technologies on display, such as game engines, graphics, and sound. Our unique position as a "map development platformer" attracted significant attention from developers, game planners, and even students and educators from vocational schools, all eager to explore the potential of location-based games.

Engaging Sessions

Mapbox kicked off the sessions as the first speaker on both days, despite the early 10 AM start. We were thrilled to see nearly 100 participants at each venue. Our session, titled "The Basics and Characteristics of Digital Maps, and the Potential of Map Games through Combination," featured insights from our game industry representative. The presentation covered solutions, case studies, and concepts for integrating data and tools within the Mapbox platform. This session captivated a diverse audience, including game business professionals and aspiring game developers.

The adoption of our technology in popular location-based games, such as "NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION Shutsujin," has further solidified our reputation.
