Event Presenters
An online meetup will be held on December 23 from 7:00 pm JT to 9:00 pm JT, hosted by the Furuhashi Laboratory at Aoyama Gakuin University.
This meetup is a great opportunity for Mapbox users and the OpenStreetMap community to interact. Since 2019, Mapbox and the Furuhashi Laboratory have been hosting meetups aimed at fostering the development of the community, providing a space to openly discuss the future of web mapping.
The theme for this meetup is "Learning from the History of In-Car Navigation: The Future of Navigation." In-car navigation systems, smartphone navigation apps, and ride-sharing services have become indispensable in modern society. This meetup will focus on navigation technology, which accurately guides users from Point A to Point B and reduces the risk of getting lost.
The guest speakers for this event are Mr. Takeo Imai, who has been involved in the development of Honda's Internavi system for many years (Representative Director of the general incorporated association "Ugoku Machi" / Former Head of Honda's Car Navigation and Connected Division), and Mr. Hiromune Sano, an automotive writer who explores the history of in-car navigation from the perspective of a car journalist (Monkey Production). Together, they will reflect on the history of navigation systems and discuss the future of navigation.
