Mapbox Navigation APIs for App Features and Data Analysis
Featured speakers

Featured host

This webinar considers ways to use these APIs for both front-end application features and backend data analysis.
- Directions API: Retrieve routes with durations, distances, and turn-by-turn instructions.
- Map Matching API: Align messy tracking data to the road network.
- Matrix API: Compute all travel times between multiple origins and destinations.
- Isochrone API: Draw the area reachable within a specified amount of travel time.
The webinar begins with an overview of how the Mapbox Directions API works. We demonstrate making API calls and examine what is included in the API response.
Next, we explain the Mapbox Map Matching API and consider how the API responses are structured, and how to use results both within an application or for data cleaning.
Third, we examine the Mapbox Matrix API and consider use cases of different size matrices, from a simple delivery scenario, to a proximity ranking use case, to large-scale travel time analysis. We illustrate setting up API calls for each example, examine what is returned by the API, and discuss potential ways to apply the results.
Finally, we introduce the Mapbox Isochrone API, both for visualizing travel time polygons and for use in data analysis using Python scripts or Turf.js.
